Weeks 9-12 Cornwall, Concert, Birthday, and Christmas Chaos

Okay, so it's been about a month since my last update.  Partly due to lack of blogging diligence, partly due to my severed laptop power cord that left me laptopless for a while.  But to summarize, here are the highlights of the latest based on the pictures I have on my camera....there are lots!  Enjoy....

1. Weekend in Cornwall

Took the night bus to Newquay where our host, a native Englishman, Jim, picked us up.  Still dawn in this picture.

Snuck a picture of Jim and Pheroze pulled over for photo op on the way to their house in the country.

Their garden

Walk in the village past a 13th century church/graveyard

Me Jim and Suzie in front of 15th century mansion, Prideaux Place, still lived in by the same family, passed down for ages!

1592 - wowzers!

Tintangel - on our way to see the castle ruins where King Arthur once ruled!

I see it!

Our wonderful hosts

Merlin's cave ohhhhh ahhhh

Cornish pasty time. I'll have a mint lamb please

Cornish pub with lots of character!

...complete with pub-cat Millie who likes to curl up by your side as you enjoy a local brew

I wanted to take a picture of the barn outside our bedroom window and caught our host outside as well.
What a creepy guest I am!  And posted it as well anyways haha

Snow in November!  Walking along the cliff sides.

I LOVED the old country home we stayed at.  This was the bathroom door....

...that only closes with this old key (looked like the key the stepmother locks Cinderella in her room with from the Disney movie - love it!)
2. Concert

Enormous lineup for Nandos.  Which is ridiculously popular all over London and we're not really sure why.  We want to tell people it's really not that cool.

The enormous 02 arena where we won tickets to see Arcade Fire through the Guardian newspaper!

SUCH an awesome concert.  Best concert we've ever been to actually!

Had to capture a bit of this on video.  Anyone who knows me knows I love ribbon wands!

3. Pheroze's Birthday

40 pounds worth of food for 10 pounds (Groupon deal of course!)
SO yummy!  We miss sushi a lot.
This was the best musical we have ever seen.  It was unbelievably good.  I want to buy the soundtrack.

Below the stage where the orchestra plays.  I liked that everyone's pay cheques were sitting on the conductor's stand.  And that the conductor mouthed the words to most of the songs as he conducted with a big smile on his face.  Obviously loves his job!

Front row, centre seats!  Streamers landed on us at the beginning of the show!

This was the map of Oz that was projected at intermission.  Loved it.
Skating at the Natural History Museum with Brandon and Laura.  Absolute zoo - they cram as many people as they can on the ice and everyone skates around in circles nearly running into each other.  Also, they have this guy in a vest whose job is to go around and help people get up who fell down.

both a little off balance

Picture from behind.  Too risky to turn and look at the camera.

Calthorpe Arms pub mmmm

School buds

The beginning of the end.  Birthday shots galore.
4. Christmas Season!

Tree in the foyer of our building

Love this bag.

The doorway to Hamley's toy store.  We took a brief tour inside - insanely plugged with people.

Free scarves from Austin Reed!

Nothing like a Christmas season testicular cancer run down Regent St.

Checking out and reacting to the daily headlines at Marks and Spencer

Mmmm grocery store fast food.  We also discovered we could get a take-home 3 course meal for 2 and a bottle of wine for 10 pounds...which we then exploited haha.
We were out on the weekend and ran into this sale where you fill a bag with as much stuff as you can for 10 pounds.

Standing in line for the sale - and blending in with the locals haha what a nerd!
